First formed back in 1983, the Shangaan Disco style which Obed Ngobeni And The Kurhula Sisters helped to originate gave rise to the bubblegum sound of 80’s South African music. ‘Xikhobva’ comes from the latest Afrosynth Records release 'Ta Duma'. Contrasting the three remixes of the 80’s title track, this tune provides “a more traditional bass and guitar-driven groove over simmering drums”. The tight rhythm section provides the perfect accompaniment for the call and response vocals that keep the track flowing forward, while subtle inflections from the guitars and bass add detail to the thick textures. -Dan Peeke
